About

Siminoff Banjo and Mandolin was founded in New Jersey in 1965 by Roger Siminoff. The company’s mission was to provide unique parts for banjo and mandolin luthiers everywhere. Roger designed and constructed numerous custom carving and wood bending machines for the graduating and shaping of the instrument’s delicate parts.

In 1979 the company moved to California and continued its growth as a provider of musical instrument parts. Siminoff Banjo and Mandolin grew to become a highly respected manufacturer of top-quality mandolin parts.

In 2007 daughter Kali joined the staff and daughter Amy came aboard in 2012. Both took ownership of the business and continued to nurture the development of Siminoff Banjo and Mandolin Parts and grow our well-received Luthierie Camp program.

2014 marked a turning point with the development of Straight Up Strings – a sea change in the design, gauging, and manufacture of strings for acoustic stringed instruments. With the successful growth of Straight Up Strings, and with Roger’s pending retirement, Siminoff Banjo and Mandolin Parts was closed and Straight Up Strings became the focal point under Kali’s leadership and guidance.

In 2021 Kali moved on to other projects, and Roger resumed a leadership role in the continued growth of Straight Up Strings.
